chopping and slicing you will start to go over some of the basic techniques that every cook should know in order to make their food taste much better. e.g. how to sweat vegetables and brown meat, how much seasoning to use and the best way to make use of herbs. Dishes covered on the course may include: Joint a Chicken Coq au Vin Burmese Chicken Salad Fillet a Round Fish Chargrilled Trout with Salsa Verde ______ "Demonstration and teaching were excellent; incidental tips and advice exceeded expectation." - Rory (2024)

Sharpen your kitchen confidence with our Knife Skills and Cooking Techniques Class. This hands-on day will teach you how to handle your knives safely and effectively – from chopping and slicing to filleting and jointing. You’ll also pick up essential cooking skills that make all the difference, like seasoning, browning, and using herbs for maximum flavour. By the end of the day, you’ll feel more skilled, efficient, and ready to cook like a pro at home.

 

The recipes made on this course contain the following: MILK, GLUTEN, SULPHITES, ALCOHOL, PEANUTS, FISH, MUSTARD

This call is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians but can be adapted to be dairy-free and made with non gluten containing ingredients.

Please let us know of any dietary requirements, allergies or special accommodations required at the time of booking. We will be as flexible as possible, when we can, so as to be inclusive to all students but we may not be able to substitute ingredients in the recipes.

We do everything we can to reduce the risk of cross contamination, however we cannot guarantee a completely allergen free environment and therefore our kitchens may be unsuitable for students with severe or life-threatening allergies.

Our one-day workshops and short courses are 16+ unless otherwise specified. Children aged 14 or 15 may attend with an adult over 18.

 

On the day, the school will be open from 9.30am and the class will begin at 9.45am. The class will be finished by 3.30pm, depending on the course and class size it may finish earlier.
