Basic knife skills and cooking methods and techniques. By the end of the week you will be understanding how to follow recipes and cooking meals with confidence.
The day begins at 9.30 each day with coffee whilst we run through the recipes with you. After the mornings cooking you eat the prepared food for lunch. In the afternoon there will be more cooking and demonstrations. All the food you cook, and haven’t eaten for lunch, is yours to take home.
If you are planning to attend this course and do not live in Edinburgh, we can help by giving you information about accommodation within the city. This is a perfect beginners course for all ages.
This course can be taken in conjunction with the one week Intermediate Course, which runs during the following week.

This highly practical one week beginners cookery course at Edinburgh Food & Drink Academy will help those who love food but have always felt inhibited by their lack of skill in the kitchen. At the start of the course we teach basic knife skills and cooking methods and techniques. By the end of the week you will be understanding how to follow recipes and cooking meals with confidence.
The recipes made on this course contain the following: CELERY, GLUTEN, MILK, EGGS, NUTS, MUSTARD, SULPHITES, SOYA, CRUSTACEANS, FISH, PEANUTS
This class is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
Please let us know of any dietary requirements, allergies or special accommodations required at the time of booking. We will be as flexible as possible, when we can, so as to be inclusive to all students but we may not be able to substitute ingredients in the recipes.
We do everything we can to reduce the risk of cross contamination, however we cannot guarantee a completely allergen free environment and therefore our kitchens may be unsuitable for students with severe or life-threatening allergies.

Our one-day workshops and short courses are 16+ unless otherwise specified. Children aged 14 or 15 may attend with an adult over 18.
On the day, the school will be open from 9.30am and the class will begin at 9.45am. The class will be finished by 4.00pm, depending on the course and class size it may finish earlier.
